Dr advised me to try some to help with my stomach problems, got them today. My question is are they suppose to taste slightly sour / tangie? I have no idea what there suppose to taste like it was just an after thought "how would I know if they were 'off'".

Does anyone else drink them/notice they helped?

Yes, I drink them every day, and they're slightly sour, a little like a mild, sweet, yoghurt. I'm not sure I've noticed that they've helped, but I haven't suffered any stomach problems either.

Thank you mrs bov, well it's only day one so no idea if they've helped. Going to try them for 2 months see if I notice a difference.

Are they any different from normal natural live yoghurt ? I'm taking antibiotics so am just taking normal yoghurt but saw this thread. . .

I'm not sure pea. When I took antibiotics ages ago I drank actimil and that seed to help.

PeaTarty The difference is the amount of bacteria that is in the yogurt, nothing more (well the exact strain is often different, but there's no evidence that any are better than any other that I've ever found)

I always just buy some acidophilus itself, rather than small disgusting yoghurt drinks, still quite expensive from a health food shop (make sure they keep it in the fridge) but you get a lot of it without the yogurt.

I think they taste like opal fruits if that helps?

Day 3 and I'm still alive so must be ok. To say they are little bottles they seem to go on for ages

What fred said. Just get a supplement from the pharmacy.
These drink contain far too much unnecessary sugar.

Yakult is a fermented milk drink, anything fermented will taste slightly sour due to the presence of lactic acid. I'm presumed your doctor recommended them as he felt you would benefit from some probiotics. The thing is if your stomach problems are because of an imbalance of bad bacteria or bad yeast then it can take a long time to correct and ALOT of probiotics, far more than a small bottle of yakult for a few days. I suggest you get yourself to a health food shop or pharmacy and see what probiotic capsules are available. Carry on with things like yakult, yoghurt if you enjoy them. Raw unpasteurised cheese like Brie or Camembert will contain lots of naturally occurring good bacteria too, if those are things you like.
