You have to eat the same meal for the rest of your life. What would it be?

I was tempted by afternoon tea: cakes, scones, and sandwiches - but it always makes you want to fall asleep half an hour later, so I will choose breakfast: melon, grapes, strawberries, toast, butter, jam and croissants, a big pot of Redbush tea with heaps of soya milk, and freshly squeezed orange juice.

Sunday Lunch. Lamb / Beef / Chicken with Mash, Boiled and roasted potatoes, yorkshire puds, Mint sauce, Gravy, Peppered green beans. Has to be cooked by my grandmother though as her sunday dinners are perfect.

charliecat · 19/02/2006 20:14

scrambled egg mash and peas

jowen · 19/02/2006 20:16

Breakfast -
Two boiled eggs with buttered granery toast cut into soldiers.
Croissants with strawberry preserve.
Unlimited tea with whole milkand two sugars per mug.
Berries - rasberries, strawberries, blackberries, whatever is in season.

KBear · 19/02/2006 20:18

Home-cooked ham, fried egg, home-made chips. Brown sauce.

(Ate this twice last week - heading for the gym as we speak!).

FrannyandZooey · 19/02/2006 20:29

Jowen, we could definitely get something going there. Your place or mine?

Me too Kbear, that is my fav meal ever.

BettySpaghetti · 19/02/2006 20:40

Mine would be the curry I had on Saturday night:

Sag Aloo Balti
Tarka Dahl
Chana Massala
Naan Bread

(hate to think what that would do to my waistline if I ate it daily though )

Frenchgirl · 19/02/2006 20:51

Caviar probably

just for the sake of one day saying 'oh not f*cking caviar again!'

failing that it would be breakfast with croissants, pain au chocolat, brioches, my mum's homemade jam, orange juice and a pot of tea

CountessDracula · 19/02/2006 21:00

Gordon Ramsay's tasting menu at hospital rd

(then you could just chop and change as is about 8 courses)

throckenholt · 19/02/2006 21:12

another vote for roast dinner - preferably lamb - but could cope with beef, pork, chicken, turkey. Loads of veg, roast potatoes, gravy and yorkshire puds - yum

Bugsy2 · 19/02/2006 21:17

Full english breakfast: toast, baked beans, sausage, bacon, scrambled egg, black pudding, mushrooms and tomatoes. My favourite meal, could definitely eat it every day.

Crispy aromatic duck......hmmmmmm, slobber......

zippitippitoes · 19/02/2006 21:32

spinach and cream cheese pancakes with a crisp herby salad and the tomatoes you buy in mediterranean markets, ditto those baked green peppers that are sometimes hot and sometimes mild crusted in salt and olive oil with aoli on the side, summer pudding with fresh cream and grilled fresh sardines with lemon juice

Bilmey Franny&zoey what a healthy option - easy to guess you are not overweight

Mine would be lasagne (but only my mum's - no-one else's will do - especially not the sloppy muck often served as lasagne in restaurants in the UK)

2nd to that it would be

Roast lamb, mint sauce and roast potatoes and parsnips (You can give me veg too if you like but I'm not really bothered either way)

FrannyandZooey · 20/02/2006 13:29

Lazycow last time I had a breakfast like that I had 3 croissants and a fry up to go with it

I so agree about the lasagne. Being veggie, you get served lasagne everywhere and a nicely-made lasgane is gorgeous...but what you normally get in a restaurant is a reheated cack-tasting plate of slop.
