Picnic-style party (indoors due to weather) for 11-15 (some maybes) adults, two young children, two toddlers (eating solids) and two non-eating babies. One GF and one of the possibles is a vegetarian. Everything is homemade so time is tight. I have tomorrow, rest of today and Saturday morning.
Savoury
Large Quinoa Moroccan Salad (GF)
Veg sticks (GF)
Yoghurt/dill dip; creamy white bean dip; black bean dip; baked zucchini & sweet onion dip (Some of these are GF)
Sausages on sticks with honey/mustard dip
Large potato salad (GF)
Cucumber & crème fraiche sandwiches
Crackers with: olive paste & tomato; cheese & chili paste; mackerel paste & cucumber
Plate of cheese (GF)
Homemade croutons
Sweet
Large fruit platter
Raspberry ice cream
Banana ice cream
Birthday cake
- Is this enough? I'm worried that I need more sandwiches? I promised (and made clear) it was picnic food but I CBA to make quiches so anything else will be sandwiches. I'd like to stick, as far as possible, to finger food. The salads are concessions to the GF attendee as otherwise there would be little for them to eat.
Two of the men are big eaters and all of the confirmed attendees love very good quality, flavoursome food. Only two are British so I wanted something a bit more traditional (as I know it won't be what they eat every day) but I got stuck. Within reason, budget isn't a problem. Most people in the group are savoury rather than sweet people.
I should also mention I've worked in catering for ages so tricky things/mass catering isn't a problem - any suggestions for alternatives/more things are welcome :)
