I have just started baking...using it & dining it to be great therapy. I have bought a silicon shaped cake mould...just wondering if they are any good?

It turned out lovely!! Not perfect...part of the paw didn't come away but it looks amazing compared to what I expected- a pile of crumbs!! I greased very slightly with vegetable oil as kindly suggested & it came out not bother! Thank you all or your words of wisdom. I will keep practicing & am now off to order more shapes!

Yay, well done!! So satisfying when they turn out well isn't it? For the paw breakge, make sure you oil the intricate bits very well, and drop the bakeware lightly onto the worktop to make sure the mix runs into all the little spaces. Its most likely an air bubble that caused it to break. Any pictures to be had?

I don't like the silicone ones, (well the only ones I have bought are the fairy cake ones) as they are a devil to wash. All the cake mixture gets inside the grooves and so you have to turn them inside out and scrub each line.

Interesting to read that people grease theirs. Thats maybe where I was going wrong !

That and the dog chewing them.

you can put them in the wasching mashine (the wobbly ones and cup cake cases I turn inside out for that). come out nice and clean with a drop of washing up liquid.
