Snacks and treats for dairy allergic baby?

ImNotAnsweringIt · 14/05/2012 12:08

I'd be so grateful if anyone could share (or point me towards) any recipes, savoury or sweet, for my hungry 11 mth old. I have just stopped bf-ing him and feel so much better now I can freely eat dairy again; I was constantly hungry when dairy free and he seems to feel the same.

I feel very sorry for him to be unable to join in treats/ puddings if we are out, and try to always remember to bring something but am running out of ideas.

He is also allergic to soya but this is not such a problem generally. TIA

I think there are recipes on the vegan society website. I've eaten delicious chocolate cookies at my friend's house that she's made for her dairy-free DS.

He also eats bourbons - but you'll have to check the ingredients as I'm not sure if all brands use the same recipe.

If you're looking for dairy free packed snacks, then the Organix bars (variety of flavours), Organix crisps, Organix gingerbread, and basically most of the Organix range is dairy free.

Hi there
My dd had to have a dairy free diet when she was little. I bought a lot of the Organix range and it was also a question of really just reading packets.

Have you seen this site? You might get some more ideas
www.dairyfreeuk.com/index.php

I did buy a couple of recipe books as well but I've now given them away (dd is 9 and she outgrew her intolerance by the time she was 2) and I can't remember for the life of me what they were called! Maybe have a browse on amazon?

Haribos are usually OK, crisps, naked range at Sainsbury's that do coconut and date thing, Montezuma blue chocolate (Waitrose), Moo Free (Waitrose)

You could try vegan flapjacks, I use a recipe on here - flapjacks

Thanks everyone, I need to get a bit more organised! I meant things to make but didn't realise there was so much I could just buy! Bourbons are one of our staples Blush

I'll stock up on the organix range then will always have something to grab when I haven't baked.

Any more? The more calories, the better.

That sounds good (tho not so much for out and about, chuck in my bag type snack Grin )

Do you mean the coconut milk in tins for curries etc, or the milk replacement type?

My dd is cmp allergic - if I'm feeling extra fancy, I'll make up some biscuits out of polenta and mix things in like cacao (the pure powder) or maple syrup or mash up some blueberries.
