Healthy, easy and tempting things for 3yr old packed lunch

That's packed lunch for a 3 yr old, not a packed lunch I made in 2003.

I'm going to be sending my 3 yr old to lunch club after his morning preschool session once a week (recommended to help his social skills). I don't think he'll be really pleased to go so would like to put some special things in his lunch box. It also needs to be easy to eat (so he can get the food in) and healthy (mainly to please me) but sufficiently tempting he doesn't raid other kids lunches. High staff to kid ratio, so I'm sure they can help with packets etc. Needs to be fairly clean to eat, though.

I've thought of .... Baby Bels (v popular), cooked cocktail sausages (I think they are evil - but they are popular), pasta salad?, cherry toms / cucumber, ...

Have you tried Hummous or other dips with carrots (if you are lucky!) or breadsticks/ritz crackers if not! Both mind love Houmous and I think it is quite healthy. Just pack lots of kitchen roll to wipe with afterwards.

Other things - boxes of raising, stoned dates (very sweet), mini hot-cross buns etc Will have to be doing the same for my DH after Easter!

Carrot sticks, cheese dippers (ASDA do really nice little packs in their "good 4 kids" range), grapes, few biscuits, banana, sausage rolls, mini scotch eggs

Any good?!

My childminder is hot on healthy lunches, but she also allows chocolate bar and packet of crisps. (plus sandwiches)

hummus and breadsticks
mini pitta pockets with filling of your choice

Wouldn't have thought of dates or humous: worth asking here!

He tends to separate sandwiches into component parts, so things that come as bits to start with are a good idea.

SqueakyCat · 14/02/2006 13:34
