my ds is just coming up 14 months old and used to be a great eater, i used to be so proud that he ate really well. now though i have been trying to get him off the baby jars and on to real food and its going pear shaped fast! it either ends up on the floor or he just refuses to eat it. he will eat fruit and veg and the like but not in the amounts that fill him up. any hints to get him to eat?

DS was just like that at that age too. Will he eat bread/yoghurt/bananas? That's what I used to fill up DS in addition to the jars. I think a lot of food refusing/food throwing is par for the course for most toddlers, so I would just keep offering, try not to worry, and expect a lot of wastage.

he will eat the jars if i give him them its our "adult" food that he seems to reject. when is it not ok that he still eats the jars or shall i persevere in the hope he will forget about his jars?

I had similar problem, but think it was a phase because it didnt last long.
Try mixing the jar with some mash potato or adding fresh veg with the jar. If you feed 'pudding' from jars, switch these to yoghurts. Ds loves sliced bananas for finger food, I did mix banana with yoghurt.

For us it was a case of experimenting, he will latch on to his favourite 'mixture of food' soon, then slowly reduce the amount of jar food.

I would proably try mixing the two together.

Additionally, make sure that the "real food" as you put it is of the same consisency than the jars and gradually introduce more lumps.

taste the jar food and work out the texture and flavour and se what you can make up yourself..I think home made food prueed is a lot denser and stickier probably les sweet so maybe try to balndify it a bit
