I feel i am in a bit of a food rut when it comes to meals the kids will eat. Thought i could get some inspiration from your suggestions of your kids favourite.

Pasta, pesto and peas. Easy-peasy. Grin

TheSinglePringleWillicopters · 28/04/2012 08:21

Just cheese! He will eat a bowl of cheese for every meal if I let him.

He now instead just has cheese with every meal. He likes curry rice that Tilda do. He like pasta in a cheese sauce.

He likes picnic meals the best

Beanbagz · 28/04/2012 08:27

Risotto though they were a bit Hmm about the parsnip i sneaked into the vegetable one yesterday.

Pasta & pesto with peas & sweetcorn is also a hit here. We have to have peas & sweetcorn together as it stems from the days when DS (then 2) wouldn't eat 'green without yellow' & vice versa!

And a mild chicken korma with rice used to be a favourite but my DD decided to be a vegetarian 2 weeks ago.

Cies · 28/04/2012 08:36

Chips Grin

Sausage and lentil casserole goes down well here. Made with apple juice or cider, which makes it a bit sweet.

Roast chicken.

Pasta and pesto with peas and chicken.

And gratifyingly, but perhaps strangely, green beans and broccoli (sp?)

Cies · 28/04/2012 08:37

Oh, and Jamie Oliver's meatballs were postively inhaled last week.

savoycabbage · 28/04/2012 08:41

Pesto, pasta and tuna

Noodles and general stir fries, especially with prawns

French toast

Pumpkin soup

Filled pasta

Sausages with lentils

Any fish with rice

bakingaddict · 28/04/2012 08:45

My 4 yr old is quite a fussy eater but I find Chicken satay goes down well. Basically any food on a stick is a bit of a novelty for him so I also make homemade kofte kebabs on sticks too

I also make chicken goujons...it can be quite fiddly breading all the mini strips of chicken. I'm not sure if you can make batches and freeze as you do have to dip the chicken in raw egg and then breadcrumb, you can also make pork escalope in this way and serve with chips/new potatoes and salad.

Pasta and pesto is also one of his favourites. He also like the usual spag bol, chilli etc. Bak u Teh is another favourite which is a Singaporean pork rib broth served with rice (MIL is from this part of the world) as is any kind of noodles. I also find noodles a great way to use up leftover Sunday roast meat and chuck in loads of veg for a speedy Monday night dinner

TitsalinaBumSquash · 28/04/2012 08:46

Spag Bol with garlic bread and a large green salad is always a hit.

Jacket potatoes with either Tuna mayo and sweetcorn for Ds1 or cheese and beans for Ds2

Tortilla wraps with roast chicken and a selection of veg, salsa, hummus, cheese they can build their own.

1 very fussy child here, 2 that inhales food like mad so I have to make something they'll both eat.

ginmakesitallok · 28/04/2012 08:47

sausages - sausages with anything, at anytime sausages

SpottyTeacakes · 28/04/2012 08:49

Dd loves shepherds pie and roast dinners. Any sort of casserole also goes down well.

RaincoverRefuser · 28/04/2012 08:55

Most pasta dishes, particularly if I use fusilli or something they can easily pick up with their fingers. I use this to my full advantage and blitz loads of veg into tomato sauces. Also, tuna & sweetcorn pasta, pesto/pea pasta, or pasta with philly & peas/sweetcorn.

Jamie's 30 min chicken pie, or the filling with rice.

Mine aren't great with meat, but will eat sausages, so toad-in-hole, sausages, mixed beans, onions in gravy & mash, sausages/veg in tom sauce with pasta, pork & rice one pot (BBC good food) are all good.

Also, slow-cooker meats go down better. I do the BBC good food beef & ale pie filling in the SC and serve with mash rice (or pastry!) and that gets eaten. Pork with apples/juice or cider, and lamb with onions and mint sauce.

Both DDs would happily live off cheese & crackers or ham sandwiches tho!

Francagoestohollywood · 28/04/2012 08:59

My dc favourite dish ever is spaghetti with clams and mussels, which I never make and therefore is a treat for when we go to the seaside.

On a regular basis they like pasta with pretty much any sauce, steak and fries, mild chicken curry, risotto with pumpkin, meatballs, lasagne, fried lemon soles, pizza, ravioli with spinach and ricotta, any roasted meat.

PJHarpy · 28/04/2012 09:01

Roast chicken and all the trimmings.
Macaroni cheese
Spaghetti bolognese or carbonara or w/ meatballs

DC1 loves pizza or hotdogs
DC2 loves pesto pasta or eggs on toast

PatTheHammer · 28/04/2012 09:17

Roast dinners
All pasta dishes including meatballs and lasagne
Fish pie
Tortellini with ham or spinach and ricotta
Chicken or turkey pie
Homemade burgers, with added grated veg.
Quesadilla, fajhitas, burritos all that type of thing.
Chicken or prawn stir fry with noodles.
Very mild Thai curry.
Cottage pie
Toad in hole, sausage casserole.
Bacon and chickpea stew, morrocan beef and cous cous and any sort of slow-cooked pork all go down well.
Fish fingers, baked potato and beans.
Homemade pizza on naan breads.
Lentil Dahl.
Salmon and butternut squash risotto

This seems a lot of variety but dd would actually rather eat macaroni cheese bake or smoked salmon pasta everyday without fail. Ds will eat anything that doesn't contain tuna. In my house it's dh who is the fussy fanny, won't eat salad FGS!

startail · 28/04/2012 09:40

beanz canned mixed beans work well in korma sauce, lots of onion, plus a few carrots, cauliflower, spuds if you have them lying around. Just beans instead of chicken and served with broccoli is perfectly acceptable.

anthonytrollopesrevenge · 28/04/2012 17:41

Shepards pie
Sweet chicken curry
Meat balls and tomato sauce, mini roasties
Chicken loaf
Salmon rissoles
Fish pie
Lasagne
Savoury pancakes
Macaroni cheese
Spanish omelette, well, any type of omelette
Beef stew
Tuna pasta bake
Sausages, burgers
Pasta in tomato sauce with grated cheese
Chicken risotto, or ham risotto
Pizzas on pitta breads

Most favourite meal of all is macaroni cheese (DD) and cheese and bacon burger (DS). Luckily they are not fussy, but DH is awful.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 28/04/2012 18:00

Toad in the hole with lots of veg and gravy. Always guaranteed to be eaten up in our house Smile.
