The custard looks and smells fine, it's been in the fridge a while though! Is it safe to eat?

I wouldn't. I'm surprised it looks and smells fine tbh

nickelhasababy · 20/04/2012 17:24

i wouldn't.

(and i'm normally the one that says "go ahead, it's fiiiine")

nickelhasababy · 20/04/2012 17:24

onehand - custard does that.

GeraldineHoHoHobergine · 20/04/2012 17:24

Don't do it! You will be sick as a greedy custard filled dog.

GoingToThePark · 20/04/2012 17:25

It's all the preservatives trying to trick me!

Just stewed a load of lovely rhubarb and wanted some with custard! Will have to send DH to co op now.

No way. How could you have opened custard in your fridge and resist eating it for three weeks?

Springforward · 20/04/2012 17:28

Probably not.

GoingToThePark · 20/04/2012 17:29

Forgot it Blush

Bought it for my spotted dock which went wrong (no steamer so tried to cook in Bain Marie and it still had bits of suet undissolved when I ate it boak )

teanosugar · 20/04/2012 17:29

no, I wouldn't

GoingToThePark · 20/04/2012 17:30

Spotted dick obv!

Nagoo · 20/04/2012 17:30

Yuk. No. I bet when you tip it out there will be green bits in it. And if there is not, I wouldn't want to eat something so full of preservatives.

Nagoo · 20/04/2012 17:31

spotted dock I read in the voice of the allo allo policeman Grin

Pascha · 20/04/2012 17:31

Noooooo. I love custard but not 3 weeks old. Bleeurgh

GoingToThePark · 20/04/2012 17:31

I'm going to resist. From now on I'm buying sachets of instant custard you make with boiling water as well. This happens every sodding time I buy a big carton of custard.

Buy the one portion cartons - the size of a yoghurt pot, they sell them in packs of 4. Ambrosia and Aldi do a version. Does one generous adult portion.

Nagoo · 20/04/2012 20:17

Just buy birds custard powder. When I realised how easy it was I was Blush about the ready made stuff.

MrsCog · 20/04/2012 20:23

Nooo - I'm a maverick with these things but honestly no! I once ate custard that old by accident and it tasted of soil! My Mum made me down brandy to help 'kill off the bugs' (I was 17)

BettyBathroom · 21/04/2012 07:27

No I wouldn't eat it and I wouldn't buy it again either - how much rubbish is in that food to make it look perfect after 3 weeks of being exposed to bacteria. Yuck!

LesAnimaux · 21/04/2012 08:02

Hell no!

nickelhasababy · 21/04/2012 13:40

Wouldn't touch it, I know someone who was really ill with food poisoning due to a dodgy custard slice.
