Eggy bread is a favourite when I have time, yoghurt and then some fruit, croissants, toasted muffins or bagels with butter or bacon but ties!

wishiwasonholiday · 13/04/2012 21:59

Ds1 loves croissants, lion bar cereal and they both love those pitch brioche things (not the healthiest breakfast I know). Sometimes they'll have poached eggs on toast.

bigTillyMint · 13/04/2012 22:01

The DC usually have cereal, sometimes toast. DD has started having a yoghurt maybe with some yoghurt stirred in, and she said she is going to make poached egg on toast tomorrow Hmm

boxoftricks · 13/04/2012 22:03

with yoghurt stirred in?! :)

keepthechangeyoufilthyanimal · 13/04/2012 22:03

Grin at yoghurt with yoghurt stirred in!

anthonytrollopesrevenge · 13/04/2012 22:05

Mine have:

Porridge, usually with grated pear or apple in it plus a squeeze of honey
Cheese omelettes
Spaghetti hoops or baked beans and toast
Weetabix
Natural yogurt in a pile in the middle of the plate surrounded by a circle of sliced / chopped fruit of their choice with a drizzle of honey or maple syrup
Toast and cream cheese and sometimes marmite / or jam
"breakfast muffins" which was an Annabel Karemel recipe i made when PFB weaning so has oats, apple and raisens though I rarely read the recipe these days and have probably altered it a bit
Left overs from the night before: DD likes any savoury left overs such as Spanish omelettes, even stews and risottos!
Boiled eggs and toast fingers

Both my kids appear to eat twice as much as their same age friends and a big cooked breakfast is best or they are horribly grumpy by mid-day.

bigTillyMint · 13/04/2012 22:07

BlushGrin that would be yoghurt with museli stirred in!

scabbysnake · 13/04/2012 22:09

ds2 loves porridge & banana, weetabix & fruit or any form of egg & toast
ds1 mostly has peanut butter on toast & fruit sometimes porridge/weetabix with fruit, plum toms on toast. if i have any fruit going soft i'll do them a smoothie.
at the weekends sometimes i'll do pancakes with yogurt & fruit, if i'm feeling nice - normally at xmas or birthdays i may buy crossiants or do a bacon sarnie

PinkyCheesy · 13/04/2012 22:22

Mine always have (every school day and most weekends)

  • bowl of cereal : bran flakes/rice krispies/shreddies/corn flakes plus skimmed milk
  • a yogurt
  • slice of toast (usually wholemeal, white in the holidays) with butter/jam/nutella
  • sometimes a piece of fruit

Occasionally: half a bagel, bacon buttie, scrambled egg on toast, pancakes, crumpets, croissant, coco pops

Gunznroses · 13/04/2012 22:32

Thanks! I should have said "toast" is my generic word for bread, croissant, bagels etc. We never have yogurt, so maybe that's a new thing i could try.
Please keep them comming Smile

Gunznroses · 13/04/2012 22:34

And we always have pancakes and scrambled eggs on saturdays, that's the favourite! Its school days tht are the worst though.

Ds2 is 7 and he likes Rice Krispie cereal bars, porridge, pancakes with syrup, plain scones with butter and toast with jam.

Ds1 is 10 and he likes most chocolate cereals, nutella on toast, crumpets, pancakes with syrup.

rosy71 · 13/04/2012 22:38

Mine usually have cereal (Shreddies, Weetabix, Frosties, Alpen etc) At weekends they sometimes have muffins or pancakes. Sometimes a cereal bar. They drink milk or yoghurt drinks.

HavePatience · 13/04/2012 22:46

3yo eats; Porridge, cereal, toast with butter or peanut butter or jam, croissant with jam, pancakes or eggs with toast
And
A bowl of chopped fruit (berries, melon, apple/pear, nectarine/satsuma and grapes)
Glass of milk (oatmilk or almond milk with calcium whenever possible) and half glass of water
Each day for breakfast

Francagoestohollywood · 13/04/2012 22:51

Dd usually has bread with nutella, or toasted bread with butter or ham. Plus glass of apple juice or freshly squeeze orange.
Ds usually chocopops with milk. I know it's frowned upon, but that's what he likes for breakfast, the rest of the day he makes wiser choices food wise Grin

Gunznroses · 13/04/2012 23:43

So im getting so far,

Yoghurt and Muffins to add to the menu Grin probably bowl of chopped up fruit as well.

its a struggle in this house to get 8 year old to eat in the am's.

fruit salad and yogurt sometimes works. beans on toast sometimes.

dry weetabix eaten like a biscuit, yuk!

bagel and jam

Taffeta · 15/04/2012 20:26

DD likes cereal, esp mini Weetabix. If its cold she'll have porridge with raisins and cinnamon. Otherwise she'll have toast with Marmite. At the weekends, she likes dippy egg and soldiers or scrambled eggs and toast.
DS likes toast with the sweetest thing he can persuade me to put on it. During the week this is a scraping of jam or hm marmalade, at weekends sometimes lemon curd or nutella. He is also a fan of French breakfast treats, which he gets in the holidays eg brioche, croissant etc.
Sometimes DH will make bacon and eggs on a Sunday morning which DS also likes.
Once or twice a year I will make buttermilk pancakes with lemon butter. They are divine.

My fave brekkie is buttery mushrooms with toast mmmmmm

Annunziata · 15/04/2012 20:29

They all take coffee, toast, porridge in winter and fruit in summer.

They're big fans of fry ups, so that's a Sunday treat.

RedHotPokers · 15/04/2012 20:31

DS has weetabix or shreddies.
DD has toast or muesli.
Pancakes on the weekend!

HavePatience · 15/04/2012 20:36

OP, I chuck in small bits of carrot and cucumber to the chopped fruit bowl, too :)
Is marmite good for you or is it a once in a while treat? DS likes it as was born here, but I hadn't encountered it before.

Taffeta · 15/04/2012 20:57

Marmite is very good for you loads of Vit B12

...or if you are food nutrition fanaticist, thin scraping only because of salt content

HavePatience · 15/04/2012 21:01

Yes, I was thinking of the salt, tbh. But so many people eat it I figured there must be some benefit because it definitely tastes gross Wink
So, safe to give a thin layer on toast to 3yo as wanted?
