Rhubarb crumble - do you cook the rhubarb first?

Just wondered. I have just stewed some rhubarb to use in a crumble tomorrow but now thinking (as it seems a bit wet) that I should have just have stuck the crumble mixture over the raw fruit.

Should I strain off some juice?

Add a little cornflour and the juice will thicken.

And next time, don't bother to pre-cook the rhubarb Smile.

Thanks :) (can't believe I gave myself extra work).

I always pre cook it a little bit-nothing worse than crunchy rhubarb.

IME rhubarb rarely cooks right through if it's not partly cooked beforehand.
I'd cook lightly until JUST softening, but strain most of the juice off if there is a lot.

I steam rhubarb - tastes so much nicer!

I always pre-cook & drain some of the juice off. - the crumble gets too soggy otherwise!

I gentle pre-cook, but mat try Chops idea of steaming now.
Thanks for sharing Smile.
