Can someone explain Ocado to me? <confused>

I've heard some Mnetters (and people in general) rave about their customer service, products, etc. I saw on a thread yesterday something about a monthly cost for deliveries. I went online but I ended up confused.

It says it's £10.99 a month but then in the FAQs it said some deliveries are free and others have a cost Confused How does it work?

Can any charitable soul out there, who also happens to be an Ocado user lover, maybe explain this to me?

Thanks in advance!

Gauchita - I wouldn't sign up for Pass. I buy once/twice a month and am constantly sent 15-20% off vouchers for next day/day after deivery. As i can always get cheap slots, this works much better for me.

Only thing is I have to do £60+ shops, but as they are infrequent, this is not a problem.

TeaOneSugar · 14/04/2012 19:28

I've just emailed Ocado, I love them, but I seem to be paying more than I should be for my delivery pass (£10.99) and I never get anniversary gifts, I've been a delivery pass customer since 2009, so they owe me 2 bottles of wine.

Lets see what a "disappointed" email achieves.

I am on hold to Ocado now to cancel my delivery pass. I started off on £3.99 a month for a year - anytime delivery of £40 or more. Great. Then in Jan they put it up to £6.99 a month - I can now cancel at any time. I tried an email, but I got the usual blurb petrol prices etc... A couple of weeks ago they told me they were putting it up to £9.99 a month, so I am cancelling.

I do love it, but only when I feel I am getting a good deal! We are a family of 6 so I tend to do large Sainsbo order a week (free on Tues, Wed, Thurs) and use Ocado for top up. So I am going to have to be more organised from now on! I don't want to pay £120 a year just for the delivery!

pigsinmud · 15/04/2012 10:34

Done it - cancelled. First time they haven't tried to tempt me back. Hard times me thinks! Feel a bit lost because before my £3.99 a month I was paying £2.99 a month for a year. After the year they wanted to put it up to about £6 a month and when I phoned to cancel they offered me £3.99 .... nothing this time. I am so used to having deliveries whenever I want!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 15/04/2012 13:29

I'm going to carry on with mine even if they won't lower the price, I think £9 a month for unlimited deliveries, saving me an hour every time is excellent value, I have 6-7 deliveries a month so that is less than £2 each.

I used to do what OctopuSting says and wait for the 15% vouchers, but that meant that they were effectively choosing my delivery days as they were only valid for 48 hours, whereas I really like being able to plan ahead better than that, I also like only having to do £40 shops.

cyanarasamba · 15/04/2012 13:39

Sorry to hijack, but while I have you ocacdo experts in one place - is there any way to browse half price/BOGOF products on the site? I can only find special offers by category (not interested in non-bargain multibuys!).

DontCallMeBaby · 15/04/2012 13:41

There's a page of offers here: www.ocado.com/webshop/getOffers.do not sure if that does what you want?

cyanarasamba · 16/04/2012 20:35

Thanks - I've found that page, but I would like to be able to see only those offers which are half price. Am I missing something?

I normally use Tesco and like to plan my meals around the bargains.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 16/04/2012 20:45

If you look on the right of that page there is a check box in the second lot down for Top Offers, that narrows it down a bit more.

I registered tonight. A bit gutted as even though they deliver in our area, they only have two £0 slots (10-11pm and 11-11.30pm) and even if I chose those, I'd have to spend £75 or more, otherwise they'd be £2.99.

I rang them and no specially bargainous passes for this area either. £6.99 or £10.00 a month.

I mainly use Waitrose now. They are free and the delivery people are lovely. Only use Ocado when they send me a voucher or I get a deal. As soon as you sign up to the deliver pass, no more deals!

Waitrose have got the MyWaitrose card now too, which means I get sent money off vouchers.

The only thing I miss is the funky Ocado vans.

Hollyfoot · 17/04/2012 21:12

As Gardener says, if you have a pass, you dont get any money off vouchers. I got 25% off this weekend's shop and get 20% - 25% off vouchers about once a week. That far outweighs any savings made with a delivery pass. But you do get preferential booking for the Christmas slots with the pass....

Gauchita · 17/04/2012 21:24

Oh that's good to know. I was leaning towards signing up for a pass, but I wouldn't if that meant no vouchers Grin

When you get money-off vouchers, is there a minimum spend?

SingingTunelessly · 17/04/2012 21:29

So there's no rhyme or reason to the monthly pass cost then is there. I was paying £6.49 per month for Tues/Wed/Thurs delivery then when it came up for renewal in March they dropped it to £4.99 per month .....

Hollyfoot · 17/04/2012 21:36

Mine have a minimum spend of £60 usually (so £45 - £48 with the voucher IYSWIM).

Gauchita · 17/04/2012 21:41

SingingTunelessly, I don't think there is, no. On this thread only prices for passes have ranged from £2.99 for 6mths IIRC to £10.99 a month! Confused

Btw, thanks for the info, Hollyfoot.
