Semolina flour?

Anyone heard of it? Where can I get it?

I tried some biscuits today which called for fine semolina flour. I didn't have any and haven't seen it anywhere, so tried just ordinary semolina. Let's just say that the biscuits weren't what they should have been, although tasted ok!

I just buy mine from the local corner shop. Asda and Tesco dont do them. I do live in an area with a lot of ethnic shops though.

Try the world foods section of the supermarket or your local Indian or Caribbean type food shop. They have all sorts of interesting flours in various grades and I'm pretty sure fine semolina is one of them. I used it to make some orange cookies by Jamie Oliver, served with chocolate pots - they are lush.

i use semolina (just ordinary semolina) in shortbread and it works fab!

semolina is just make of wheat though... it's like teeny tiny pasta... so surely semolina flour is just wheat flour? Confused

Thanks for the replies. I'll have a look in the world foods section of the supermarket. I've seen it used in quite a lot of recipes, so was surprised it was tricky to get hold of. I may have just been looking in all the wrong places though!

A deli? I got mine from an Italian deli, probably overpriced but the only place I could find it.
