pureeing with formula

Hi all, I have just started weaning my 23 week old baby with baby rice. I want to introduce fruits and veggies. Can I add formula milk in the blender with veggies such as carrots? Is it ok to run formula / breastmilk in the blender? Does it not lose its fat when it is run in the blender with the veggies?

TIA

Also, any indication of how much formula to add to say one boiled carrot?

You can just use cows milk, you don't need to use BM or FM. Don't know about quantities though, just enough to make the texture you want it I suppose!

I would puree in the blender with boiled water, but measure the amount of water used. Afterwards, mix in proportionate amount of powder formula. So if you used 1oz of water, then mix in one scoop of formula. That should help with the fat separating problem. Or as others have suggested, just use ordinary milk which has been boiled and cooled.

You don't need to boil and cool the cows milk! Just use it as it is!

Rather than either milk or formula, why not add a knob of unsalted butter to the cooked veggies instead? Tastes lovely.

A little cream makes a lovely purée.

Yeah, just use cows milk. It's fine for purées just not for their main drink till 1yr. A lot cheaper and a lot less faff than using formulaSmile

Thanks all, I would like to use Aptamil First ready made formula that comes in small cartons. Is it ok to put that in blender?

I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't be ok!
