Hi Ive got some friends staying for 4 nights and got 3 meals sorted but need one more.

Cant have any seafood / fish or lamb and no musrooms (this isnt me being fussy I love all those things).

I wanted to do somehting like a slow raosted leg of lamb as we will be going out for the day so I could shove it in the oven in the morning then serve the kids with boiled pots when we get back without too much effort and we could have roasted pots/ veg later but this was before the Lamb aversion.

Thanks

Gammon Joint in the slow cooker?

slow cook beef instead? Topside or brisket in slow cooker or oven.

roast chicken with 40 cloves of garlic
Serve with good bread and salad (from a bag).
Ta da!

This is a great 'make in advance' recipe: www.deliaonline.com/recipes/main-ingredient/meat/beef/braised-steak-au-poivre-in-red-wine.html

However it's not terribly child friendly I guess

Or the Nigella chicken tagliatelle is fab and dead easy (if you have time to cook the chicken when you get back)

Actually if I were you I'd make a stew/casserole in advance and freeze it and then get it out to defrost in the morning and heat it up when you get home.

Slow cooked pork, or pork shoulder braised in cider?

what about a chicken gratin (cooked chicken in white sauce with cheese/stock/lee-on-perrins/peas) with breadcrumbs and cheese sprinkled on top. or a lasagne. you could make in advance and then you just heat up?
