Hi im back in the uk! im finally over the jet lag and ready to become a mumsnetter again!

Anyway im getting so stressed with DS. He has decided he will not eat herdly anything! The h.v says its because hes had the stress of flying across the world and hes been ill latley but i dont honestly think thats it.

He will eat bread, fruit and yoghurt and unhealthy crap like crisps and chips. but he refuses point blank and has a huge tantrum if i even bring veg or meat or pasta near him. He used to sit down happily with a baby fork and spoon and munch nearly anything but now he shakes his head and screams the place down.
For instance today hes had 1 slice of brown toast and a bannana but refused everything else its been nearly 1 week now.

Its really getting me down now i slave over the oven cooking something thats reasonably healthy and he throws it on the floor and cries. We even got him one of those pltes with the sections to make him feel special and we all eat together so hes not feeling left out. I really dont want to give into him and let him eat chips and nuggetts which is what he wants.

Hes 16 months. He's drinking fine he has NEVER taken water so we give him weak orange and the ocassional hot chocolate in a sippy cup, i want to get his feeding sorted before i move him on to a proper cup.

Any tips? do i just give in or do i hold out untill he gets that hungry he will eat the healthy stuff?

Dd went through 6 months of eating nothing! it drove me absolutly insane so i sympathize deeply.
Try Houmas and Pitta bread, this worked a treat for dd it's healthy and light and it's messy to eat- so it's fun
Also i put very, very small amounts of food on her plate, if i put a "meal" down or more than a couple of spoonfulls she refused totaly.
Totaly identify with cooking and it being thrown on the floor- i used to end up in tears! My solution: DON'T COOK!!
I stuck with things like the houmas, cheese on toast, rice etc easy things that didn't make me completly crap if she didn't eat them. Otherwise i found i was cooking for an hour, she throw it in ten minutes, and i was then cleaning the kitchen and the things i used to cook with for another hour and it got VERY wearing, i ended up waking up in the morning dreading meal times- very silly i know.
Then for some reason, she just started eating. Not huge amounts but she started gaining weight. Now she still doesn't eat "normaly" but she does eat and is still gaining weight and looking far less skeletal.
Hang on in there it will get better xx

My dd used to eat just super noodles and quavers
Shes now 8 and eats a varied vegetarian diet.
I used to leave food in places where she could crawl and find it, small sarnies, bits of fruit etc, its fine if you dont mind it being mashed into your carpet.
Do not break your neck cooking things he wont eat.
Theres no point.
If your having something, give him teeny amounts of each plus something you know he will eat.
Stop worrying about it, I know thats hard, but one day he will be eating your cupboards empty.
Get out of the chips and nuggetts habit now or you will never get out of it!
Ask for simple snack ideas here on MN too for little ones

My DS was exactly the same at 16 months! It is very frustrating, I know. Don't have a magic solution I'm afraid, but I do agree with giving little snacky portions throughout the day, rather than 3 BIG meals. There are still days when he just will not eat, for example a few days ago he had a banana and a piece of toast then half a yoghurt ALL DAY! Then on other days he will eat and eat. Sounds like you are doing all the right things, just hang in there.
