I need some new ideas! I love the sort of thing you can knock up in the daytime then just needs to be cooked and served.

Here's my current repertoire:

Shepherds pie
Various pasta bakes (tomato based/tuna and sweetcorn)
Meatballs with pasta
Chicken cass (slow cooker)
Beef cass/beef in beer (slow cooker)

What else?

As I'm doing a fish pie later.... Fish Pie! Oven-baked Risottos are also pretty good.

chicken and chorizo stew - I do in slow cooker with previously cooked chicken.
Fry off chorizo, use oil to fry off onions plus garlic and fennel seeds (plus a chilli if you like). Add paprika and oregano, pinch of sugar and splash of sherry vinegar, plus chopped peppers and cook till peppers are softened.
Then mix in a tbsp of tomato puree and either tin of tomatoes or carton of passata. Add either raw or cooked chicken and stick in slow cooker or cook on hob for an hour or 2.

You can use pork instead of chicken.

this is the original recipe. I serve with the breadcrumbs when I remember. I do with either bubble and squeak or just plain rice if I can't be bothered.

cassoulet - we like with crusty bread and tons of butter
steak and mushroom pie
chicken cacciatore
chicken basque
puy lentil and bacon soup with macaroni cooked into it

you can make all of the above during a toddler's afternoon nap, and reheat after the school run to no ill effect

I need lots one pot reciepes, or we'd never get fed till midnight. So here are a few of my favourites.
Lamb tagine served with humous, couscous and flat bread. Excellent. lots of different recipes online.
Spring chicken - a 70's favourite and the longer it cooks the better
cooked chicken, sausages cut up (cheap ones work best for some reason), streaky bacon cut into small bits, a handful of sultantas, diced onion, chopped mushrooms and chopped peppers. Add chicken stock and mild curry powder a little paprika and put in oven. Serve with rice.

Pork one pot
Tried this one last week and thought I'd have some left over but it the pot was wiped clean.

browned the meat and put it all in and set the over timer, already for tea when we got in at 6. www.speyside-beef-and-lamb.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=82%3Aone-pot-wonder&catid=4%3Apork&Itemid=75

Hope this helps:)
