(Dried) chickpeas in a slow cooker

Inspired by the slow cooker thread, I bought one! I was thinking about making chickpea curry. Do I have to completely cook the dried chickpeas before I use them? All the recipes I've looked at seem to do that. I was hoping I could soak them overnight, boil them for 10mins, then chuck them in the slow cooker with the rest of the curry ingredients and leave them for a few hours. Anyone have any advice? Ta! Nope, soak them overnight and boil for 10 mins, then should be fine, that's what all the recipes say.

I've done it a few times where I soak them, then just throw them in, but that's when the slow cooker is on low for 12hrs+. They are soft enough then, but I see why they say boil first.

Good luck

Cool, ta. Recipes I was looking at effectively took two days to cook, as you had to soak them ,then cook them, them slow cook them with the rest of the ingredients! I'll just chuck em in Smile Ta!

Chickpeas takes only an hour to cook unless you use a slow cooker...
