Urgent brownie help

Fisharefriendsnotfood · 02/03/2012 14:29

First time making brownies. Took them out after allotted time and was busy with shortbread so left to cool.. Just checked them and I don't think they are cooked enough. Very wet still. Should I stick them back in? They are out about 25 mins

Do they wobble in the tray when you move it?

redridingwolf · 02/03/2012 14:39

Are you doing the 'slip a knife into the centre' test? You don't want the knife to come out dry (like if you were making a cake) - for a brownie it should still come out quite wet. Can't answer you rquestion tho without tasting one!

They don't wobble. The top is quite firm now. Maybe the bottom will dry as it cools Confused

they will definitely be tasty

RetiredDJ · 02/03/2012 14:45

Fisharefriendsnotfood that's perfect. If the top is set and they are not wobbling then they should be done.
Has the top gone a little bit crisp/crusty or is it the texture of cake? If it's the former all should be fine.

Hoorah! Enjoy them!

Fisharefriendsnotfood · 02/03/2012 15:11

How long will they take to dry out

HuevosRancheros · 02/03/2012 15:31

Best to try some now. Grin

Fisharefriendsnotfood · 02/03/2012 15:38

The middle ones are still quite wet, have I buggered them?

Tis not possible. Raw brownie batter is the food of the gods!

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 02/03/2012 15:43

And they've only been out the oven an hour, give them time to cool down properly and set.

Fisharefriendsnotfood · 02/03/2012 15:47

Right, have transferred to wire cooling rack. Really should have read up on brownies before I started Grin

Do you really pour the mixture onto a baking tray? Mine have risen very much but I used a silicone square cake tray

OP posts:
Nolda · 02/03/2012 18:39

No, you pour the mixture into a tin. Did you put them in the size of tin specified in the recipe?

Fisharefriendsnotfood · 02/03/2012 19:12

Roughy speaking. Was a smaller square than the rectangle specified iykwim
