Question for bakers

I would like to try a Delia recipe for Irish Tea Bread. My mum used to make one years ago. I would never eat it as I didn't like raisins and sultanas. I've now managed to come to like them to a degree in some bread products....I'll still pick them out of breakfast cereals.

Anyway on to my question. The tea bread in question requires 8 oz each of raisins, sultanas and currants. The recipe makes two loaves. Could I reduce the quantity of fruit (by half say) and the recipe still work? Would it end up a bit doughy without the fruit.

Or can someone point me in the direction if a nice soda/tea bread with not too much fruit.

In reality I should probably just make it as per recipe as that way I won't eat too much of it myself!!
