storminabuttercup · 29/02/2012 17:59

Brownies?

HuevosRancheros · 29/02/2012 18:03

Fairy cakes, rock cakes, biscuits, flapjacks....

Catsmamma · 29/02/2012 18:07

Dark Stickygingerbread ..that recipe is amazing

I'd also do a couple of Victoria Sandwiches...they always go well

Banana Bread seems to be a favourite too at bake sales

Mars Bar Krispy cakes....you can do this in slabs or individual cakes

Gingerbread men can be fun too

Nigella's chocolate orange loaf cake is bloody brilliant. A sure-fire hit and incredibly easy to make.

And I say this through gritted teeth, as I'm not a Nigella fan....

If you haven't got the book (can't recall which one it is offhand) a quick Google will find it.

cupcakes?

ivykaty44 · 29/02/2012 21:14

I really like the look of the ginger cake and lemon drizzel, anyone got a good recipe?

Its for a cycle event so know others will probably bring flap jacks and mine are not wonderful

I have a really good recipe for banana loaf - so could do that, just need some bananas Grin\

thank you for ideas

thegoddesskitchen.blogspot.com/2010/10/chocolate-orange-loaf-cake.html

looks easy - what is:

Beat the already soft butter with the syrup and the sugar until you have a fairly smooth caffé Americano cream,
??

please - pale and fluffy springs to mind - am I correct?

Most popular ones we sell at our school are always chocolate cornflake cakes BUT....must be huge and MUST be Cadbury's chocolate!

piprabbit · 29/02/2012 21:25

Do you know if they are planning to sell whole cakes (targeted at parents) or pocket money portions (targeted at kids)?

When I was little, cake stalls always sold whole cakes, so when DDs school first asked for cakes I made a couple of sponge cakes. However they cut them up and sold them by the slice (which then needed plates and was quite messy). Since then I've stuck to fairycakes and traybakes.

ivykaty44 · 01/03/2012 08:14

They are aiming at selling cakes to eat there and then, think lots of children and teens racing on bikes and parents watching - so hungry children and teens.

I think gingerbread cakes in fairy cake cases may be the answer and I could make banana fairy cakes in cases to keep things simple - thanks piprabbit Smile

mary berry gingerbread cakes - they are in cup cake case
banan cup cakes and will ice them later
mary berry fruit loaf - easy peasey and its in the oven now

am still tempted by the chocolate orange cake by Nigella but dd has given up chocolate for lent and wonder if others will have so not sure?
