not good at recipes but dried fruit like apricots or raisins have lots of iron in.

I didn`t realize that, thanks

Anything with meat / pulses AND accompanied by something high in Vit C which hugely enhances the take-up of iron by the body.

Shepherds pie with fresh veg / orange jiuce
Chili con carne ditto / with something with Vit c
rice and dhal with spinach / fresh fruit
Tasty pork or beef stir-fry with noodles with veg follwed by fruit

You can get a vegtable-based iron supplement for kids - Floradix

Dark choc has iron.
Make cocoa from cocoa powder, rather than hot chocolate.
75% cocoa solids chocolate

Steak?

Molasses has a high mineral (including iron) content - so if you can use that in anything it should help.

Hi triplets,
eggs are good too.
There is a great supplement called spatone (www.spatone.co.uk) which I used after having DS (my blood count fell drastically) and was much better than any other iron tablet or medicine they had given me - it seems to be much easier to absorb. You can get it in Boots and it can be taken in fruit juice (not grape juice though).

If you give iron-rich foods try to avoid milk for at least half an hour before or after - it makes absorption of the iron difficult and as Blu said, Vit C helps absorption.

Sorry to ramble on

The only thing that would be a hit is the dark chocolate, he loves the really good stuff!

I forgot baked beans - very good, and wholemeal bread too.
