Tesco home delivery

Sad I know but I thought I used to actually enjoy supermarket shopping. As I have just undertaken radiotherapy and have been housebound for the last 13 days (12 to go..and counting....) I decided it was too much for my mum to do my shopping as well as look after my 3yr old dd, so I braved the world of shopping from home...I was sceptical about the quailty of the fresh food, worried I would end up with the crabby dates, stuff that would be reduced by mid afternoon for a quick sale! BUT hey....its all just been delivered straight to the kitchen table! by a very helpful driver, the dates are better than I can usually find on the shelves when shopping for myself...and everything was just as ordered, for the cost of £3.99 I'm seriously wondering why I bother getting the car out to drive 15 miles to Tesco, struggling for a parking space, fighting to get my dd in a trolley, buying things I never intended, then queueing in what is always the longest queue! by which time its more often than not pouring with rain and I get soaked packing it all in the car! THANK GOD for technology!!!

I know! I can't remember the last time I darkened the doors of a supermarket.

lol, I know I still do bits and bobs in the shop but 95% is online once a month - wouldn't go back to monthly shopppin now!

Misspiggy · 25/01/2006 15:16

Hi AM! I use online shopping quite a bit, usually Tesco or, if I'm feeling rich , Ocado. I love it as I detest food shopping and the amount of time it takes out of my weekend (I work FT) plus I find it's easier to economise as you don't pick up that scrummy pack of doughnuts etc because they look so nice! Sorry to hear that you're going through radiotherapy - that must be very difficult for you. Have you got plenty of support? - I'm pleased to see that your mum is helping out with DD.

Brilliant isn't it. I always spend much less as well. Have a look on this website for money off codes - www.moneysavingexpert.com - it's under "shopping" and then "online discount voucers". I always get £10 a week off, last week it was £15

bubblerock · 25/01/2006 15:24

I got the £15 off last week too, It's actually cheaper than going myself and I find it easier to meal plan and get 2for1 offers that I might miss instore - I tend to walk around tesco in a daze and get seduced by the bakery.
You can add as many codes as you want onto your account and it will pick the best one automatically for each shop.

This week there were 2 substitutes that I wasn't happy with but we couldn't find them straight away so the driver just took the money off anyway and let us keep the products!!

Great to hear such good feedback on online shopping, it seems that my experience wasn't "beginners luck".

Miss Piggy, I'll take a look at the one you mentioned called Ocado, probably doesn't deliver to my area though, only Tesco does at the moment. I've got a fair bit of support with my dd, its just so hard not being able to have her living here for 25 days, although last night I was officially allowed 15mins contact, so I went to my mums, I stayed about 30 mins!! but made sure only 15mins hugging! when I left we were both crying our eyes out, I continued pretty much all night, but my mum rang me 10mins later and my dd had stopped and was happily watching Grease! That made me worse! can't wait for my 15 mins tonight!

Sandyballs and bubblerock...thanks for the money saving tips...going to check them out too.
