My 11 month-old ds has three solid meals a day plus milk in the morning, at 11 am and a night time bottle - should he be getting a morning and/or afternoon snack of some sort too - he seems happy enough between meals and does not cry for food - ? Help....

My 18 mth old has three meals aday and no other snacks or drinks (apaprt from water.)
I can't be arsed with getting food out all the time.

If he is offered something like yoghurt or fruit, he will eat it, but is not yelling for it - I just don't want the poor thing to starve - however also don't want to encourage a habit of food all day if he does not want it -

Both of mine had snacks at this age (still do) -like Kama though, it was more like 4/5 mini meals per day. dd is a major snacker after school and still eats a good size dinner

God if only mine wouldn't eat snacks. I couldn't be bothered taking snacks out at first but a few episodes of screaming mid-meal while we were out and pointing to the food on the shelves in the supermarket soon changed my mind. I now never go anywhere without snacks. This from someone who was so happy to bfeed as it meant not pfaffing aroud carrying bottles of milk [ grin]

If he doesn't ask for snacks and seems happy I would leave it as it is - assuming he eats reasonably well at mealtimes

My dd (nearly 16 months) has 3 meals a day - the main meal is at lunch time and tea is toast and fruit etc. I offer breadsticks/ricecakes/raisins that sort of thing as snacks - and water.

They only have little tums at this age so may need snacks - depends on how active your lo is I suppose.

I would class the 11 am milk as a snack so not bother in the morning but possibly give one mid-afternoon/after nap. I give mine an afternoon snack because we do not eat until after 6. If your DS has tea at 4.30 pm it might not be necessary.

DS has big meals and eats pretty much everything that is given to him - he does get a snack on activity days although he is not walking yet, he is just a very speedy crawler- I think I will keep the 11am milk thing for now and then offer something in the pm and see how that goes -
