Don't think frozen peas will work - it has to be marrow fat peas that you soak, according to my mum. Yummy, haven't had them for years as no one else likes them in this house.
We used to call them modgy peas.

Frozen peas squashed with gravy are a delicacy imo.

But not exactly mushy peas.

MerlinsBeard · 23/01/2006 20:04

Spidermama · 23/01/2006 20:09

You need special peas called ... um ... marrowfat peas I think.

Or I've just found this.

Spidermama · 23/01/2006 20:10

Good idea by the way.

LeftOverTurkey · 23/01/2006 20:16

Good way of cooking them, spidermama. I always thought the bicarb was to keep them green not to help them break down? Or is that something else I am thinking about.

harpsichordcarrier · 23/01/2006 20:17

no the bicarb makes them mushy
