Would it be ok to put mushrooms in a cottage pie?

I was going to make Spaghetti Bolognese for lunch today but have realised I haven't got any spaghetti (pretty crucial!!). So, instead I am going to make a cottage pie but I have bought some mushrooms for the bolognese and don't really want them to go to waste. Could I bung them in the Cottage Pie or will that be gross?

Sounds fine to me. Or you could cook them up with garlic, herbs and butter and have them on little bits of toast as a 'starter'.

of course. sounds tasty.

Or you could go to the corner shop for pasta?

Er no. Completely unreasonable. Mushrooms are the work of the devil and should be banned. They are fungus and grey and slimy. Enough said.

(DH loves them though)

I always put mushrooms in cottage pie. But then I also add a generous splash of wine, a teaspoon of pesto sauce, and a teeny tiny pinch of dried chillies. YUM
