on a Sunday I bake some whole meal cheese scones which they have with some ham slices of cucumber, yoghurt and fruit. I never give them crisps but they will have the odd home made cake or biscuit.
I also make them pasta with sauce but at room temp not fridge cold.

The homemade thing is because I like baking and it saves me a fortune with 4 pack lunches to make.

They seem to like it.

I just got DD one of these, which now means soup/pasta/rice are all lunchtime options.

How about adding a chunk of honey Flapjack? Oats and honey for healthy, sweet enough to feel like a treat:

At the moment my daughter is taking

Marmite sandwich with grated cheese
home made popcorn with nothing added (we have a popcorn maker and I make a stock pile every three to four days)
carrots and hummus
pot of sultanas
banana loaf

^Gas 4 and grease loaf tin 22 by 11 by 7 cm

Beat 4 oz butter with 4 oz brown sugar until creamy ( or put in food proccesor) then add 1 egg and continue to beat until smooth. Add 450g of mashed banana ( or slice into food proccer) and then beat, add 1 tsp vanilla ess and 3 tbsp of natural yogurt (any flavour or type will work, I have used greek, strawberry etc and all has worked well)

seperate bowl, sift 8 oz flour 1 tsp bicarb of soda, 1 tsp cinnamon and pinch salt together, then beat gradually into banana mixture and mix in 4 oz sultanas gently pour into tin. bake in oven for one hour and twenty mins.^

It freezes well in sandwich bags ready to pop in the lunch box.

My eldest dd used to love taking chicken drumsticks - which I cooked in a marinade on a Sunday and put in bags in the fridge ready, along with melon slices - I would cut into the melon ready for her to eat and pop in a sandwich bag. Saved making sarnies the night before or in the morning as I could jsut put things into the lunch box straight from the fridge.
