Our first "going out for a family curry"!!!

Not a big thing I know, bit took dds-3 1/2 and nearly 6 for a curry this lunch in a proper grown up restaurant! They both tried everything and dd1 now loves chicken tikka and chicken korma and dd2 korma and popadums! Anyway, just chuffed with them, feels like the dawning of a new era in that we don't always have to go where there are kids meals and colouring on tap!!!

They also both charmed the waiters so much that 5 different ones came over with a handful of chocolates for them!!!

sounds lovely batey...bet you're beaming with pride today!

Going for a curry with kids is great. I've found that Chineses and Thai are popular with DD too. Our locals are great, but felt really guilty when the owner of the chinese greeted DD by name in Sainsbury's!! I'm sure a dose of MSG every couple of weeks isn't doing any harm!

Lovley Batey - we used to go for curries a lot when I was little and the whole family always loved it>

we have a few really good family friendly local italian restaurants where we take ds - 17 mths
he loves it and i always find italian restaurants very child friendly
feels like you have had a proper family meal out!
(PS just posted this on the wrong thread first time round - how embarrassing)

I hate the "kids meal" options as they are junk food mostly, anything and chips. What we have done (twin ds are now 23 months old) since they were little is take them to whichever restaurant we want to go to. Okay, so we don't really go to posh restaurants but we are common as muck!

Anyway, we share whatever we get with the boys, soup being especially popular and get bread or side dishes for them to eat. Might sound daft but it works for us!

Sounds like you had a great time Batey.

We too have always taken DD out with u to which ever restaurant we wwanted to go to. I think she was only 2 weeks old the first time. WE tried to make sure we took her out somewhere to eat most weekends to get her used to it. At 19 months now she loves going out for lunch. Off with my parents for a carvery tomorrow which DD just loves.

Have to say I too get fed up with kid's options, especially as DD doesn't like chips. I try and get small portions of normal meals. Our local Italian (very very nice new place - not just pasta/pizza) does DD a tasty bowl of buttered pasta with herbs for free whenever we go.

Also DD enjoys colouring so I always take crayons and a colouring book to entertain her if she gets fed up of listening to adults talking.
