Im doing a cooking party for my sons 5th birthday. He is a vegetarian, there will be about 12 kids most 4/5 year olds.

I was thinking pizza followed by possibly fruit kebabs in chocolate fountain then decorating a gingerbread man to take home.

the problem is, i have 2 kids coming who are dairy free....does anyone know of any decent dairy free cheeses that would melt on a pizza?

or any thing that could be done instead of pizza? that would be veggy and dairy free??

he's been asking for a cooking party for the past 2 years :/ just a little lost at what to cook that would be suitable for every one Hmm

help.... Confused

You can get dairy free milk chocolate :-)

Decorated gingerbread men will work with 4-5 yos but they may struggle to keep their attention making pizza or spearing fruit on skewers. I'm a cub-leader and I find, even with 8-10 yos you have to keep it simple or they switch off and start messing about. You could make a lot of bread dough, give them a lump each and some play-dough cutters and get them to make shapes or aliens or people, poke in some decorative raisins etc, which you then bake for them to take home. Some cookery-theme games, songs or stories (Gingerbread Man?) and finish with a buffet tea that you've made and which meets all the dietary requirements.

tofutti make quite a good melting dairy free cheese - can be found in Holland and barrett. My dds are both dairy free and would be delighted to be invited to a cooking party in which they could participate. If you could manage it you'd certainly be a super-mum! Grin
