So my DS just asked me what's the difference and I had to admit I had no idea!!

from google:

Raisins are dried white grapes. They are dried to produce a dark, sweet fruit. The grapes used are usually Moscatel.

Sultanas are also dried white grapes but from seedless varieties. They are golden in color and tend to be plumper, sweeter and juicier than other raisins. Also referred to as Golden Raisins in the US.

Currants are dried, black, seedless grapes. They are dried to produce a black, tiny shriveled - yet packed with flavor - fruit.

more differences:

Raisins are dried naturally, sultanas are dried with the use of vegetable oil and acid

Raisins look dark and taste sweet; Sultanas are considered sweeter and juicier.

Sultanas are nicer than raisins, But both look the same in a babies nappy.

Are currants not dried blackcurrants?

sultanas are paler and nicer, but am a bit put off now, because of the acid Hmm
