To all crap cooks

I have decided that this year I will cook new things with confidence, as I have got stuck in a rut foodwise.
I did no cooking when I was a teenager...my mum was a good basic cook, but I was not allowed in the kitchen, it was "her" territory. Consequently, I never learned, had no interest, survived on M and S.
Obviously with dcs I bought a few recipe books and can rustle things up, but not with a great deal of confidence.

So far this year I have produced a fantastic mushroom and spinach risotto, a moroccan lamb tagine and a chocolate torte.

My aim is a recipe a week....and to learn how to use all my processorsSmile

Brilliant. A good book which has been tested shouldnt fail. I struggle to understand why following simple instructions some people completely fail.

I actually didnt do much at home either but I taught myself and plenty of reading.

Delia's Complete Cookery Course is a great way to start. There is nothing in there that isn't do able. Also any of the Good Housekeeping books, and Mary Berry.

Processors are definitely your friend Grin

I use websites a lot now as these are tried and tested and the comments help to show it works - BBC good food/ channel 4 / UKTV and various blogs.

yy to the BBC website, it's fab. I am a recipe book junkie though, so can't not have them.
