Cooking broccoli

Stupid question.
I have cooked panfuls of broccoli over the years for the children, and usually just give it a few minutes on the stove. I have some thinstem broccoli to cook tonight to go with a tagine ( a couple of friends round) and wondered about microwaving it instead to save another pan on the stove.
How do I do it?

You put in in with a bit of water in the bottom and cover it, then follow instructions on pack - if no instructions I would do a couple of mins and then see and do more if needed.

However I have to say that we had to use the microwave all the time recently as no cooker and it never seems to cook properly / evenly to me.

Are you boiling any other veg that you can stick it in with?

put the brocolli in a dish, cover with a small amount of water, cover with cling film and put on high for 2 mins.

It might need slightly longer depending on quantity and how you like it cooked. Doubt you will ever go back to boiling it again - much quicker and easier.

sorry... just re read the message - don't cover the broccoli in water - just add a small amount of water (enough to steam) in the dish.

YY as toddler says - you are trying to steam it - a bit of water in the bottom is what you are after.

Seems like it's a "marmite" method of cooking!
