Defrosted chicken - ok to use?

HAve just defrosted chicken which was well within its sell by date when frozen and has only been frozen a couple of weeks. I defrost chicken by leaving it on the worktop overnight.

Popped it in the fridge yesterday, and am cooking it today. Noticed parts of it look a bit shiny with a slight greenish tinge Hmm and it smells a bit chicken-y - but not nasty or bad. Have cooked it and it tastes fine. If it was off, would it taste ok?? Should I just bin it????

Also -defrosting chicken - I always defrost things on the worktop but the website I read said never do this, always defrost in a fridge - what do you do??

Thanks!

Green chicken? Need you ask!

Shiny and green usually means 'off', sorry. I don't think it matters whether you defrosted it outside or inside the fridge on this occasion. I think it was probably going that way when you froze it.

Green?! Eeek! As long as you cremated it you'll be ok...hopefully!

I know, sounds terrible... but it was only a little bit..... think I'll just bin it....
