Which cartons of fruit juice drink for lunch boxes are actually ok?

Watched This Morning today and they featured lunch box stuff and all the salt, sugar that stuff contains. One of the items was capri sun, I do put this in my sons lunchbox as it has not additives, preservatives, but it doesnt contain much actual fruit juice (10% ) and of course a fair amount of sugar. Out of all of these drinks on the market are there any that are actually low in sugar, no additives and with a high fruit content. I also buy Five Alive cartons and the Willy Wonka ones from Sainsburys. I want to buy the best I can, unfortunately ds doesnt want water.........and its my fault because I never made him when he was young.

smoothies best of all i think. as they are whole squahsed fruit rather than juice you get fibre too & therefore no sharp rise in blood sugar.

Was curious I'd always assumed it was "good" sugar in pure juice iyswim.

fructose & glucose are very similar. i think.

I give my two diluted tesco smoothies, in a sports cap bottle. If they insist on boxed drinks, pure juice or innocent smoothies ( at 3.50 for a box of 6,it would cost me £7 per week for playgroup drinks, and i am too mean to pay that out each week)

innocent smoothies are on offer at Sainsburys a the mo! I buy them for DS and then steal them...

I think pressed juice is much better than concentrated which has virtually zero vitamins left in it.

katierocket · 12/01/2006 19:08

which is why I actually think the use of the word 'pure' is slightly misleading

polly28 · 12/01/2006 19:38

hate buying juice from concentrate.

There was a health scare about it in Canada a few years ago, according to my mum who lives there, put me off.

Morrisons juice isn't from concentrate. Could be from something else (?) but "better" than Tescos/Sains equivalent. Talking about the big cartons though.

katierocket · 13/01/2006 09:44

Juice is either concentrate or pressed.

mine have water

but otherwise pure fruit juice or ribena . I dont mind Capri Sun as I dont mind sugar over sweeteners and load of chemicals.

Try B-Fresh jucies! They're naturally pressed juices with all the vitamins and minerals you need with no added sugar. Full of fresh fruit and veg and in 250 /500 ml bottles!
