How to cook simple red cabbage

When I've done it before I've just steamed it, but for tomorrow I want it so it's all nice and juicy like in a restaurant. I don't want to be adding apple etc to it just the best simple way you know. Tia

Chop, pan, knob of butter, water, balsamic vinegar, table spoon muscavado sugar, lid on, low heat, leave an hour or so, before serving turn up heat and reduce liquid till sticky.

Excellent thanks. I have no form of brown sugar though and can't go out now will it be ok without or is there anything else I can use? Yum!

Nice one. I was looking for a red cabbage recipe. Thanks! Smile

I made it the other day with just more balsamic as I didn't have any brown sugar either, you could put a tea spoon of white sugar in instead but I actually quite like without any sugar and just a hint of acidity from the balsamic which is quite sweet anyway.

Great thanks how much balsamic should I use? I'm sorry for all the questions I'm usually a good cook I promise!

I'm pretty generous with the balsamic, more of a glug than a splash iyswim

I did it and it was yum! I think I should have sliced it more thinly though but the cabbage was so hard! Also my dad accidentally turned it off half way though Grin

Anyone know if you can cook cabbage like this in the oven?

How long for if you can?
