Quick Q - can anyone help with this sticky toffee pudding Q?

I want to make this sticky toffee pudding recipe

But it makes individual puddings and I don't have 8 small pudding tins. I want to know whether I can use the same recipe and make it in a square cake tin, then cut the cakes up, pour sauce over and finish off the same way. Not sure whether the recipe requires longer cooking if I do that. Anyone have any ideas if this would work?

Tx in advance

The only problem with a square tin is that the edges might be overdone before the centre is cooked. Have done it in a dish I do lasagne in - rectangular, bit bigger than 10"x7" it comes out about an inch thick. I've just taken it out when it looks done iyswim. If you have a look on a site like www.recipes.co.uk, they may have a recipe for cooking in a different shap.

You could always calculate the area of 8 round dishes, and then take the square root of it to find out what sized square tin you would need, but that's pushing it a bit far imo Grin

tb - my brain might melt. I have rectangular tins. Will search and see if I can find others - it's just that I've had this recipe before and it is absolutely gorgeous, but just not sure about whether it would work in one big tray

Yes, I had some lovely little round pottery dishes. Unfortunately, umpteen years later, only have 3 or 4 left, so I either use a lasagne dish, or have also used loaf-shaped foil ones for freezing.

This is a good recipe that would work fine the way you suggest Smile.
