sterlizing jars/bottles with rubber seals

I'm about the make some Honeyed Fig Vinegar from Nigella Christmas to give as presents - looks v v easy and not too expensive.

I've got a large kilner jar to steep all the ingredients in, and some small glass bottles to put the finished product in, and both have rubber seals. I usually sterilize jars and lids in the dishwasher and oven, but don't know what will happen to the rubber seals. I could remove the seals - but then they wouldn't be sterile Confused

Advice please?

fatsusuma I use Kilner jars and sterilise them in the oven .I leave the rubber bits out though ,and just give them a good clean in soapy water.

Thanks, think that's what I'll do Smile

Sterilising solution from a home-brew shop, or good old Milton tablets?

Thanks. Turns out there are some instructions on a piece of paper inside the jar Blush
They say you should sterilise the rubber seal with v hot water.
Vinegar is steeping as we speak - looks revolting but am relying on Nigella...

I've always given them a soapy rinse first, and then popped them in a pyrex bowl and poured some boiled kettle water over the top (to completely cover them) while the jars are in the oven
