Bought some tuna steaks today and generally sear them with teryiaki sauce but wondered if anyone had some other recipes.

I cooked some in the oven wrapped in foil with a sauce made from tinned toms, onion, garlic and tom puree (cooked first, then liquidised).

I also do lime juice and rind and fresh ginger, but then I put them in a parcel of tinfoil in the oven for about 20 mins.

serve with baby new potatoes and a lovley salad.

gorgeous.

Have to sya that I love my tuna very simply done - a squeeze of a lemon, a dribble of light olive oil and some chopped parsley. Done for about 1.5-2 minutes on a hot George grill. Mmmmm. Had them for dinner last night.

This is from WWW and is in the cookbook I am publishing (due to be out in February!!!):

Tuna steak with honey garlic and ginger

2 tuna steaks

2 tablespoons of honey

2 cloves of garlic (less if you like)

1 tsp ginger

Dash lemon juice

Mix up the honey, ginger, garlic and lemon juice. Marinate the tuna steaks in the mixture for as long as you?ve got. Get a griddle pan hot and put the tuna in the pan to cook. Cook it as you would best fillet steak ? we do it for about 30 seconds on each side so it?s cooked for only about a millimetre all round but completely raw within. Bet Nigella Lawson would say ?quiveringly, meltingly rare? but I?m not that pretentious! You probably like it cooked for longer than I do anyway.

Where do you all buy your fresh tuna, it's very expensive in Waitrose. Would a fishmonger's be a better bet?

meggmoo · 10/01/2006 22:16

My Dh does the most amazing salad.

Sear the tuna which has marinated with some 5 spice powder and oil. Then dh makes a cold noodle salad with some cooked veg (carrot/mange tout/spring onion) The dressing is lime/soy/tamarind water and some chopped chillies.

Mmmm might get some tomorrow.

Thanks all. Sunchowder, was just wondering how the book was going. Yorkiegirl like the sound of the burgers, please post the recipe when you have a mo.
