After watching Masterchef, is anyone tempted to cook sous-vide at home?

Very poncy, I know, and I have neither the space or the money to buy the water bath or the sealer unit, but it looks so easy! If you cooked everything in the poly bags, you'd never need to wash a pan again.

Is anyone going to admit to cooking like this at home?

OOh I wwas looking at those on John's website.

£350 iirc?

I just think the hassle of arsing around with the poly bags would soon wear thin, no matter how succulent and tasty the food is.

And I have no room on the worksurface. Wink

So that's how you spell it then! Seems a bit cheaty to me.

It reminds me of those fish in a bag meals that were really 'in' in the 70s and 80s. Fish in parsley sauce anyone?!

I don't know - just shove everything in a bag, seal, leave in hot water then serve... I think I'd miss the cooking smells, though.

Foxinsocks, I also think "boil in the bag" when I see them cooking sous-vide! Grin

DIY version using that slow cooker at the back of the cupboard.

I would love to have a go, i just need an electrician with some spare time.
