Custard in trifle!

My second trifle thread in one day!

I'm going to put custard on the trifle and will be using ready made. If I pour it on and put the trifle in the fridge will it set?

I did this a while back. It didn't set hard, but did set hard enough to put squirty cream and then sweets on (it was based on My Naughty Little Sister's trifle.

Top tip though: don't drive 100 miles with it in the boot of the car and expect it still to look pretty Blush :( Blush :o

if you want it to set then you need to make it with extra custard powder

oh no, have i outed myself as a heathen?
if you make it properly with eggs and stuff does it set as well???

Flubba Thanks. That sounds set enough. I won't put in in the boot though! Grin

if you want a very firm custard you will have to make it yourself, but the shop stuff is fine.....handy hint is to only softly whip the cream for the top so it is just holding its shape but still pourable because spreading stiffly whipped cream on soft custard never ends well.

Custard out of a carton won't set, it'll just be a bit thicker when it's cold. I like a good solid custard so I make it with extra custard powder like thisisyesterday said.
