What can I do with Cous Cous?

Have bought some for ds who is 7 months, and I'm now stuck for idea's as it's not something I usually buy.
Also does anyone know whether it can be frozen after it's been cooked? If so,I'll do a big batch of it for him and hope he likes it.
TIA.

its nice with flakes of salmon in it, or peas, or just on its own

but be warned its very messy!

dont know about freezing, have never tried

It freezes OK if mixed in with a stew or sauce, Bubbaloo.
Can be served either hot with something like chicken and veggies, or a tomato and veg sauce, or purees for younger babies.
Older children often like it flavoured (herbs/avocado/spring onion) and served with grilled fish or meat.

my ds lives on it.

Basically the same as pasta except really really tiny.My ds prefers it plain (bleurgh!!),but you can mix it into a tomato sauce or bolognese.

My friends ds has gis with balsamic vinegar and olive oil, maybe a bit too much for a 17 mo .

DOn't know if you can freeze it,but I ususally make a load and keep it in the fridge ,then nuke it.

Ds's favourite couscous and sweetcorn.

oh god the mess, definately not one for eating in front of the telly!

nailpolish · 09/01/2006 13:38

yes, very messy spoonfed or not

buts its worth it as all children seem to love it and its very good for you (i think?) and extremely useful for adding all sorts of fish or veg or even fruit (ie peaches, pineapple bits) and its easy to make

god i love weaning, such a picture seeing a babys face as it takes a taste of something brand brand new

Thanks everyone-Cous cous it is then!

Think ds is getting a bit fed up with just fruit and veg.Have tried him on fish and did a batch of chicken this morning. If he doesn't like the Cous Cous I can always mix it with his yoghurt-he'll eat that til it's coming out of his ears, lol.
