suggestions for packed lunch for 3yo dd who normally has hot lunch?

Want to start her doing lunches but she doesn't really like any kind of sandwich except PB and J and that's not suitable for nursery b/c of nut allergies.

What can I make for her that won't make her look like a freak (like when Molly Ringwald brings out her sushi in the breakfast club)?? I don't like cold food really so I rarely serve it to her. A typical lunch is some kind of chicken, rice and veg. Or spag bol. She ate a chicken and sweetcorn sandwich last week from Waitrose and I nearly cried with joy/relief/excitement!

I am tempted to serve her sandwiches all week to try and get her to admit she likes at least one combo. She loves bread - baguette, no butter or anything. Would it be a bad idea to send her with bits of chicken, a roll and some salady bits? (not sure how cooked chicken would be received. She doesn't really eat any kind of sliced meat). and what else can I start to try her on??

DS1 brings sushi in for lunch... I think he was told to bring in "normal" food once Xmas Grin - I offered to stop making sushi but he prefers to brave his classmates. In fact I think nobody made any more comments after that once.

We do sandwiches, wraps, bits of chicken - leftover homecooked stuff, pasta and noodle salads.

For a while we did hot packed lunch in one of those thermos things, but I think it was too much of a faff for DS1, so we are back to cold lunches.

You can get mini food thermos' and give her hot food - I do this for DD sometimes.

Or cold pasta salad, cous cous, hot sausage rolls (wrapped in foil etc)

I like your idea of bread with bits to eat with it.

Does she like wraps? They are less bready and you can put all sorts in.

How about some celery/carrots/cucumber sticks, cheese, tomatoes etc. and some dips?
