Rust on biscuit cutter - safe to use?

Just digging out my old Christmas biscuit cutters, and the Christmas tree is looking a bit rusty around the edges. Just tiny bits, but they won't come off.

I'm inclined to use them, because if I can't scrub it off surely it's not going to come off onto the biscuits? In fact I think that quite a few of my cutters have done this over the years, but does any one know if there is any problem with this?

Also, I like using them to make sandwiches for ds1 - do you think that would be a problem?

I've got a few that went rusty in playdoh so hoping the answer is 'go ahead'!

(a) It is only rust.
(b) You are cooking the things afterwards

What is the problem likely to be?

Well, yes I agree, but somehow it just seemed a bit wrong. What do you think about using on sandwiches?

I use the rusty ones all the time even on sandwiches. We've all survived so far.

Extra iron innit?
