If making flavoured creams (eg peppermint, orange etc) how do you neatly cover in chocolate?

I know you can just drizzle chocolate over in a Jackson pollock way but if I want to make small round ones like poppets how do I do it without them ending up with one flat side where the excess chocolate drips to?

I don't think it's possible actually even some of the factory made chocs have flat bottoms IYSWIM ! I like to dip nuts in melted choc. using tweezers but they do have flat bottoms.

The chocolates you buy without flat bottoms (malteasers etc) get dried in a huge vat that spins round very quickly with hot air in it to coat them easily.

So no, not do-able at home! Sorry! I think they look more home made with flat bottoms anyway.

No idea. But I want some Grin! Orange please.

Sorry, not helpful.

Thread them onto a length of cotton or some sort of plastic thread? Then dip in chocolate and hang somewhere to dry. You'd probably need to chill them before removing the thread though, so your hands dont melt the chocolate.

I've never done this by the way, just guessing wildly at what might work.

Gastrognome that is a brilliant brilliant idea. I am going to try that when I et a chance.

Let us know how you get on!

Will do. Though also now thinking about flat bottoms as I am impatient and would have to let them dry properly to thread on string. Hmmmm.

Also the threading would be messy because the needle you use might end up breaking them before and while removing the cotton or whatever.

Use cocktail stick to dip. Poke into half an orange to dry. Or get a lifeGrin

Or convert your tumble drier to full-time chocolate coater? [empties chocolate buttons into conditioner drawer]
