suggestions for a second Christmas dinner dessert

We are having:

celeriac soup
roast beef

and someone is bringing a chocolatey creamy pud.

Later on there will be christmas cake and cheese.

So I'm looking for a second dessert to contrast with the chocolatey creaminess. Either made the day before, or very easy to throw together. I don't want to do Christmas pudding as we're having Christmas cake later on.

Any thoughts?

Pears poached in red wine and cinnamon served with a dollop of booze flavoured double cream. Make in advance and warm gently. Delis does a lovely recipe

trifle?
fruit salad
keylime pie

I do very thinly sliced pineapple, with passion fruit pulp and seeds thrown over and a few tbspns of orange juice, left to marinade in fridge for a few hours. Serve on a platter. Vair refreshing.

Good with thick cocnut yoghurt or good vanilla ice cream, or just on its own.

Make sure you get the passion fruit the week before so they have time to ripen.

Boozy oranges.

Cut peel and pith off a big pile of oranges, cut out segments (so there is no skin on them). Cover in sugar in a lovely bowl. Add A little or large dash of orange liqueur.. Cover with cling film and leave in the fridge for a good day or so.

It's really lovely....really fresh and zingy but delicious too. The juice that comes out is really syrupy and lovely.

Errr. Overuse of the word "really" there. Sorry! Blush.

After the revelation that my father actually hates Christmas pudding (who knew?) this year we are also making, especially for him, a steamed ginger sponge. Easy to make, light warming flavours and tastey. Just a simple sponge recipe with the addition of some chopped stem ginger. Pour over custard = happy dad. Well as happy as the grumpy old codger gets these days!
