If you own either of these books, what do you think of them, and how much do you use them?

Which would be better for interesting meals midweek, do you think?

And if you own both, which do you prefer and why?

I would like to buy one (but could be persuaded to buy both...).

Thank you!

I have the family cook book, recipes are simple but they work, so they are great if you want to start involving your child in cooking, it isn't just about the recipes, he talks about sourcing ingredients, explains how to make your own sausages etc.

I like it, would rather have a HFW book in the house than Nigel Slater any day. I also have the year one(can't think what it is called) cooking by month, which is good too.

I know you didn't ask but HFW's fish book is AWESOME!

I have both and definately use every day more. Family is good for cooking with the kids but not mnay recipes you couldn't find elsewhere. I am after the Veg one for xmas.

I have Every Day and it is my desert island cookbook, I LOVE it. I have cooked more out of it than any other cookbook I own and I've only had it a year or so. I have seen the Family Cookbook as my mum has it and I like it but I think Every Day is better unless you want to cook a lot with your kids.

I have the Meat and Fish books and am also hoping for the Veg one for Christmas. Good grief I am a HFW groupie!

I have got both of them. I use Every Day more often for family meals. It is the cookbook I use the most. Family Cookbook is more targeted at cooking by/with children.

I have also just got Veg one which is awesome - made quinoa with courgettes and pine nuts for supper tonight and it was very good.

Thanks all, that's really helpful. I've ordered the Every Day one, as it sounds like my kind of cookbook.

And then I went on eBay and bid on the Family one too; oops.

The Veg one sounds lovely - may save up some nectar points for an Amazon purchase! BlueChampagne what is it about the fish one that's so amazing? I cook a lot, but never feel particularly confident with fish - would it covert me?

I sense these books may be addictive.

Oh that's good I will deffo be asking for the veg book this Xmas!

Actually miggly you could probably Rick Stein's fish books cheaply now, they are great if you not confident with fish.
