In charge of christmas desert this year.

I was thinking of doing a christmassy trio but can only think of a mini mince pie so far, I dont want to do a mini pud as my brother really isnt one for that sort of flavour. It's not looking much like a trio at the moment.. does anyone have any festive suggestions?

I think I will do gingerbreads seperately as they are more of a biscuit than desert, I think it would go better with coffee.

Hugh F-W has a chestnut and chocolate cake which was easy enough for me to make one year! Would be yummy as a pud with cream as well.

hehe I thought of that. Gobi is a desert, Tommee, (as opposed to a dessert) which is what you meant to put.

oh very funny, pick on the confused Chefs spelling! Or do I mean speeling?

Nah its a joke Tommee Grin and a bad one at that.

Check out these though, I know you said not christmas pud but I think they might taste very good.

You could make them just rum and chocolate and leave out the cake for a traditional truffle, then decorate the top.

My mum makes a frozen chocolate Charlotte every year, which you could make in ramekins ahead of time, and just plonk on the plate straight from the freezer. It's from this Seventies classic, and is basically Cointreau and orange syrup-soaked Savoiardi biscuits round the edge of a ramekin with a homemade chocolate ice cream in the middle, frozen. Gert lush!
Truffles would be good for a trio and can also be made ahead and flavoured to complement whatever else you have gone for. Cardamom or coffee?

I recently made Cinnamon Ice-Cream. If a few rum-soaked raisins and cherries were included it would easily be a 'Christmas Pudding Ice-Cream'. Teamed up with something light and crisp - a Brandy Snap basket, for example - I think it would be a nice way to round off a heavy Christmas Lunch.
