what would you use?

Would it work if I cooked up some bramley apples to a puree with not too much water do you reckon?

I use a jar of applesauce tbh
If you have a Bramley, then peel, core, dice, and chuck in the microwave to cook, then you don't need to add water

sounds perfect. I think the key thing is the consistency - very sloppy!

But you'll need it to be quite sweet - more like eating apples than bramleys.

I'm not sure about the sugar - I've got various recipes and one says unsweetened (its for xmas tree ornaments, btw, not to eat!). So I guess consistency is going to be key, and it sounds like sloppy is what I need. I reckon babyfood might be the way forward (or can you buy canned applesauce here even, I never thought of that Blush )

Depends what you need it for, but I usually just fine-grate the appropriate amount of fresh eating apple.

Its to make cinnamon christmas tree ornaments. We've got some made by one of DH's American aunties and they are fabulous, so wanted to make some more. I was just a bit Confused about the applesauce, I thought they were just cinnamon & white glue.
