I can't cook. We live on frozen and package stuff. DP can cook really well but he works away for 5 weeks at a time.

I can only cook chilli and spag bol. I'd like to be able to make other things. I wouldn't have a clue what to do to make a roast dinner.

So please can I get all your cookbook and website recommendations to help me be able to cook more things from scratch.

Thank you.

I've a Floyd that's very good for Italian. Indian, I'd go with Madhur Jaffrey (sp?). Mexican, I don't know, but didn't Jamie do some sort of trip around America and in the south some of his recipes seemed quite Mexican? Or is my memory being affected by sleep deprivation?

I'll be ordering the delia as well I think - I could have written the OP, I love baking and can make soup and chilli but always believe that I can't cook. Doesn't help that DP is both an amazing cook and super critical. I promised myself would get over it though, and I think this would be a good place to start!

I saw a fantastic book in Waterstones today. It is called The Busy Mums Cookbook. The reviews on Amazon are very complimentary. It basically takes the faff out of menu planning.

I am similar to OP. I can make basic cakes and can do basic cooking like mash, chips, But I need to learn to do more proper cooking.
I have a good book called " The new cook by Mary Berry" it is very good for going step by step on how to do things.

I've given DP a list of cookbooks that he could get me for Christmas. He keeps asking what I want.
