Dp adores the woman, think he'd wee a bit if he met her Wink

Anyway he works nights and is in bed as was working last night, there tonight. So I'm making a beef dinner and suddenly thought I'd have a bash at doing a big yorky pud. I'll be honest I usually buy them to warm up or dp makes them. I did a google and easiest one was Delia's. I already cook from her books as think she's fab, they never seem to fail, hoping this isn't going to be the first?

Am off now to make the mix, wish me luck! Grin

Good luck.

Get the fat in the tin really hot in advance and don't open the oven while it's cooking, and you'll be fine Smile

DogStinkhorn · 13/11/2011 16:48

Hers work for me.

ginmakesitallok · 13/11/2011 16:49

and put the tin on top of cooker with gas on low when you're filling the tin to keep it nice an hot

PastGrace · 13/11/2011 17:01

Good luck!

I went to get her Christmas book signed for DP two years ago and I think every single person in the queue was a woman, buying for their husband/partner/brother who refused to use any other recipes...

If you have any yorkshire pudding left over, drizzle with cream/creme fraiche and a bit of golden syrup (cook's perks - it's possibly the best thing to eat ever)

HannahHack · 13/11/2011 17:04

Nooooo! It doesn't work. Do Jamie O's instead.

Or do both and settle a long standing MN food thread row!

PastGrace · 13/11/2011 17:23

I find it works, but the absolute best is Nigella's one. Jamie's and I did not get on...

Curiousmama · 13/11/2011 20:04

Yes it worked pretty good but I made the mistake of using a tin with a raised bit in the middle so the bottom wasn't crispy. Very tasty and crispy on top though. Will try Jamie O's asap and then Nigellas. (can see midweek beef dinners on the menu) Wink

Never brave enough to try one big one, I always fear they will be soggy in the middle so always do individual ones in a bun tin. How did they turn out?

CuriousCrissyRock4QueenMama · 14/11/2011 10:58

It turned out rather lush tbh. The bottom wasn't crispy but that was choice of tin. I'm going to invest in a proper big pud tinGrin

SexyDomesticatedDab · 14/11/2011 12:06

Add an extra egg white to the mix - make sit rise more. A heavy / solid tin is whats needed and very hot fat. Had Yorkies for Sunday dinner and Rib Of Beef - 'twas fab.

CuriousCrissyRock4QueenMama · 14/11/2011 14:54

Mine rose well was nice and crispy on the outside. Dp said the beef was best he'd had, was rump though so should be good. I browned it, then removed it, added an onion and carrot then put beef on top and cooked in oven. I blended the softened veg with gravy and bit of cornflour was lush.

ChrissasMissis · 15/11/2011 06:31

I've never, ever had a Delia recipe turn out - Nigel Slater is more reliable on this one!

CuriousCrissyRock4QueenMama · 15/11/2011 08:27

Shock Wink

Aww bless Nigel you gotta love him he's so sweet. Although Envy that garden, it's not everyday you say 'and now add some fresh bay' open the door and hey presto!

LoveBeingAFirework · 15/11/2011 08:32

My bay tree died on the last big freeze, it still hurts Sad

CuriousCrissyRock4QueenMama · 15/11/2011 10:32

Oh I am sorry can you get another one?
